Topic: RE: Problems staying on track.
I too don't think my eating habits are the best. I rely too much on protein drinks and protein bars. I don't get in enough water either. I am exercising though. I go 5 days a week before work for cardio for 45 mins and then again at lunch for weight training. There were plenty of days when Iwould think that I wanted to just stay in bed but I didn't. Now it has become habit. I don't even really think about it. It is like showering or something. It is just part of my day. Now if I could just learn to take more time and get in what I need for my vitamines, water and protein. I will have to work harder on that I guess. So, I too need to get out of that slump. I think if I went to nutrition classes, I might do better. But the classes that are part of the practice I go to are 1.5 hrs away. They are on weeknights. I get up so early to work out that the thought of doing that after work and dinner is too much for me. That is 3 hrs driving plus the time at the meeting.
Topic: Problems staying on track.
I seem to be having trouble staying "focused" lately. I was so diligent when it came to weighing my foods, measuring, journaling etc. I have also been slacking on my protein shakes which I never did before. I was also walking at least 5 days a week and have stopped doing that as well. I know that I NEED to be doing this but for some reason haven't been doing. Maybe I just got too comfortable with things and got lazy. I know what I SHOULD be doing and what I am NOT doing and am having a hard time getting motivated to get back on track. Is anyone else having this problem? I also never drank carbonated drinks but recently have started for some reason. I really don't overeat, I think I am just not making the best choices possible. If you are or have had this problem, what did you do to get yourself out of the "slump" and get yourself motivated? I know I need to change this, I am just having a hard time with it.

Hey there! I just wanted to say that I will be 30 weeks post op tomorrow and I feel the same way you do. Up until about 3 weeks ago I was diligent with my protein shakes, tracking and weighing my foods and exercising. I never drank carbonated drinks and didn't eat "junk" such as sugar free candy etc. Then I guess I got too comfortable with things and got lazy. I see what I am doing and especially what I am NOT doing and I feel like I am going to fail. I am at the same point that you are and know what I need to do, I am just having a hard time doing it for some reason. I'm not overeating but I am not making the best choices for the foods that I am eating. I know that I need..no HAVE to get back on track or I will end up right back where I started and that for me is unacceptable. I was losing an average of 3 to 4 pounds a week, and now I am lucky to squeeze out MAYBE 2 sometimes it's less than 1. I know that both of us CAN do this, I just think that we need to remember why we had this surgery in the first place. I am also going to start attending WLS support meetings, maybe that will help kick me back in gear too. Please feel free to contact me, maybe we can get each other motivated to get back on track. :)

I know why you are waking up at 5am. That is what time I get up Mon - Fri so that I can go to the gym before work. Then I go for weight training during lunch. So, it is just me telling you to get your butt out of bed and get to the gym.

I think I stopped using mine 3 days or so days after I got home from the hospital. It says about 300 hrs on it. as a matter of fact I put it away the other night. Boxed it up and stuck it on my shelf in my closet. I am sleeping better at night than when I was during the day. BUt i have a nasty habit of waking up around 5 for no particular reason. no pottybreak etc. I think it is my body's way of telling me to exercise, cuz that is when my gym opens. lol

Thanks Tom. From the sound of things you are doing great as well. Keep up the good work. Hey, are you still on the cPap? I stopped using mine. I just felt like I didn"t need it anymore. I don't snore so I figured I wouldn't use it. I don't seem to notice the difference.
